These brownies are incredibly gooey, satisfying, and sweet! After testing what feels like a lifetime of brownies, these FINALLY came out a perfect texture. The one ingredient I add to these brownies that is different from most recipes is a small amount of oil. The oil is JUST enough to keep the texture extremely fudgy, without compromising the crispy, crackly crust you can see in these photos.

All in all, I just wanted to reassure everyone that you can pretty much use any nut butter to make this healthy double chocolate brownie. If you don’t wanna buy more almond or peanut butter because your addiction caused you to have jars on jars on jars in your pantry, use any smooth nut butter and this recipe will turn out amazing too!
When you sprinkle a little sea salt on your brownies/cookies/candies/cakes, a little magic happens. It automatically heightens the complexity and makes the sweet taste even sweeter. By topping your baked goods with that little sprinkle of sea salt, you are enhancing the flavors of the nut butter in this recipe.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup runny almond butter
- 1/2 cup melted coconut oil
- 2 flax eggs (or use eggs if you prefer)
- 1/4 cup coconut sugar
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups almond flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips
- about 1 cup of almond milk
Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 350F and grease an 8x8 inch baking pan with oil (I used avocado oil spray for this)
2. Mix almond butter + coconut oil together until smooth
3. Beat the eggs (or flax eggs) and add to the mixture
4. Add vanilla extract, coconut sugar, and maple syrup and whisk until well-combined
5. Separate mixture into two even bowls . In one of these bowls, add 1 cup of almond flour, cocoa powder, 1 tsp baking powder, add almond milk to help mix things together (this is our brownie bowl)
6. In the other bowl, add 1 cup almond flour, cocoa powder, 1 tsp baking powder, add milk to mix things together smoothly and then fold in chocolate chips (this is our cookie dough bowl)
7. Add the brownie layer onto the pan then add the cookie layer on top
8. Sprinkle some sea salt on the top for some extra magic (and any other toppings you fancy..) Bake for roughly 25-30 minutes and enjoy!
